Chrisna M. Perry, Ph.D.
Learning Specialist and Educational Psychologist
Dr. Chrisna Perry is a Learning Specialist and Educational Psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience working with children who require academic, social, and emotional support. In June 2011, Dr. Perry returned to her private practice, Comprehensive Learning Services, after serving as Director of Student Affairs at The Ancona School, a small independent school in Chicago.
In her private practice, Dr. Perry works to understand children’s various developmental needs and learning styles, as well as to support each child in building strengths, addressing difficulties and pursuing interests.Dr. Perry’s services include providing individual remediation to students in the areas of reading comprehension, written expression, vocabulary development, behavior modification and executive functioning. She also uses language enrichment as a means of promoting social development, thinking, communication, literacy, numeracy, and imagination with children 1-3 years old in her Learning Out Loud Language Program. Dr. Perry has recently expanded her professional affinity of supporting children with social skills deficits in her Social Skills Superstars program to foster social success.
Dr. Perry received her Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and her Doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Karen Neary, MEd
Karen grew up in New York and received her Bachelor Degree in Science in Biology from the University of Scranton in PA. She then completed her Master Degree in Education in College Administration from Loyola University of Chicago. After working in this field for 5 years, she made the decision to become a teacher and was accepted into Inner City Teaching Corp in Chicago where she received her teaching certificate from Northwestern University. After several years of teaching elementary school, she returned to school to become a Reading Specialist. She received a 2nd Master Degree in Education in Literacy and Language from University of Illinois in Chicago. She also became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2012. Currently Karen works in Chicago Public Schools as an instructional leader in a Montessori Magnet School. As a result of her interest in working with struggling readers, she became a Learning Specialist part time for Comprehensive Learning Services in 2007. Karen specializes in working with students with reading remediation (or enrichment) needs in grades K-8. She is also experienced working with math remediation, and is very familiar with the Everyday Math Curriculum. Karen also works with students in need of developing stronger executive functional/organizational skills. In her free time, Karen enjoys spending time with her family, exploring Chicago, traveling and reading.
Lisa Riggs, MA
Lisa grew up in Southern California and earned her Bachelor Degree in English Literature from San Diego State University before moving to Chicago. She then completed her Master Degree in School Counseling (K-12) at DePaul University to support children with underlying social and emotional disorders. A combination of this education plus training in various academic remediation interventions then enabled Lisa to work as an Academic Coach for Kaplan, as well as an Educational Therapist with an emphasis on classroom achievement and behavior modification. Lisa is currently a Learning Specialist with Comprehensive Learning Services specializing in individual reading and math remediation, social group work and group therapy, and test preparation for school entrance exams. In her free time, Lisa enjoys running and playing soccer.
